Ships Ladder
THE STORY
Ships ladders are a hybrid between stairs and a ladder. They take up a smaller footprint than a traditional staircase but are a little more robust than your typical ladder. They have railings on the sides and an angle of 50°-70° which makes it easier to go down facing forward, like you would a staircase. Ships ladders are great for cabins and tiny homes, or for anywhere in your home that’s too tight for a regular staircase.

Every ladder we create is the result of a collaborative process that starts with your vision. We can build ladders of all heights and slopes with different types of wood and a choice of finishes like stains or paint. Once we’re in touch, we can discuss materials—including your preferred wood and hardware style—and provide a quote for the price of the ladder plus shipping.

The price of your ladder depends on the materials you would like the ladder to be made out of and how tall you want it to be. We handcraft the ladder in our workshop using high-quality hardware and premium wood.

We use a variety of different woods and hardware for our ladders. Every ladder is completely custom and we can discuss material options via phone or email once you’ve placed your request.
You can choose:
Your desired wood (e.g. pine or walnut).
Hardware that fits your style and needs including mounting hardware.
Finishes like paint or stain.
Practical additions like extra-long railings and bookshelf toppers.
Creative design details such as carved steps or toppers.
