Maple Library Ladder for L shaped Bookshelves
THE STORY
Our client built a new home that has a custom made L shaped bookshelf unit. They contacted us and requested we build them a rolling library ladder that could be used on each set of bookshelves. There are curved rail pieces that would allow them to access both sides of the library without removing the ladder from the track, but the hardware is cost prohibitive. We suggested a more affordable solution, using sliding hooks on the ladder top and wheels on the bottom. This hardware allows them to easily lift the ladder from one track, roll it to the other track, and to easily lift it onto the other track. They had seen the small bookshelf that we put on our contemporary ladders and asked us to include one on their ladder. The hardware we used also allows the ladder to be stored vertically against the shelving, or to be removed and stored on a nearby wall.
