1919 Kitchen Ladder

I was able to buy some wood that had been salvaged from a barn that was built south of Calgary in 1919. I love to repurpose and upcycle, so I wanted to reuse this wood by making it into ladders. The first ladder we made using this wood was a giant loft ladder. After that ladder was made I was contacted by a client who wanted a kitchen ladder that looked identical to the loft ladder. A kitchen ladder is smaller than a loft ladder and needs to be easily movable, the 1919 loft ladder was not that! Instead I designed a beautiful kitchen ladder for our client, using special techniques I was able to clean the wood while still retaining the patina, saw marks and nail holes. I was very pleased with the result and our client was thrilled.

from this wood was really fun!. The 100+ old wood has been cleaned and you can see the saw marks from when it was cut, as well as the nail marks and other patina.

I have more of this wood, if you would like us to use the 1919 wood on your ladder then please contact us.

Every ladder is custom-made for you, the design inspired by your vision. Once you approve the design we handcraft it in our Calgary workshop. Pricing of ladders starts at $1200, and varies depending the wood, hardware and finishes you choose.
